Pet Friendly Events and Venues

There seems to be no comprehensive list of pet/dog-friendly events and venues in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas.

I have a 13-week old Yellow Lab that I just can't stand to leave at home!

The Events calendar is missing some events listed on the animalhumanesociety.org page and it'd be great if there was an easy to spot place for everyone to share their experiences at dog friendly venues (restaurants, patios, coffee shops, etc).

How about starting a Forum for Pet-friendly Venues (with ratings!) and updating the Events page or allowing it to be updated/edited by readers?

Hi There--Thanks for your input. We encourage anyone to enter an event for free in our events calendar and rely on organizations to do so. As for sharing experiences at dog friendly venues, that's a great suggestion and something we will look into.

Cool!

I'm trying to add the events I know of and it tells me the event was created, but I don't see it listed. Maybe it needs to be approved before it will show up on the event list?

Thanks,
Cari

QUOTE: It can take a few days for the event to post because all calendar postings must be approved, but it is the best way to share events and learn about new ones.

Glad I can! My puppy is the apple of my eye and the less time it takes me to find fun things for us to do, the more time we're out there having fun!

Great idea! I am always looking for suggestions of dog-friendly places. If you have a well behaved dog, it is such a pleasure to bring him places with you, but it's hard if you never know if he'll be welcome, and you certainly can't leave him in the car if he is not!

I took Nika to Bar Abilene (1300 Lagoon, Uptown Minneapolis) last night and had a wonderful time!

First, they have awesome happy hour ($4 apps, $3 taps & 1/2 price margaritas) and second, they were great hosts to my friends and my dog. They offered a bowl and water if I didn't have my own and said they welcome dogs on the patio if they're licensed and current on their shots, in control, not barking/bothering other patrons.

There is a large parking lot behind the building where I took Nika for a couple of walks and short play times to keep her from getting bored. There are garbage cans back there to dispose of the fun stuff they produce :)

I would highly recommend Bar Abilene! We got there right at 4pm to ensure we got an out-of-the-way table, but it didn't actually fill up until around 6pm. I don't believe they take reservations for the patio though, so if you want to give yourself the best chance for a spot, go early!
