My Yorkie Can't Seem To Stop Itching!!

Hi, I have a 3 yr old yorkie with an itching problem. It could be allergies or a yeast problem. She is constantly scratching, licking, and biting herself. She has these black dots all over her armpit area, stomach, chest, and legs. She also has pimple like bumps on her stomach. I definitely know she doesn't have fleas/ticks. I don't think it's food allergies. I feed her Evo. I've tried 3 different vets... They gave her a shot and some shampoo. It seems she gets worse when it's hot and humid outside. Any advice? Please help!!

Just because you feed a

Just because you feed a quality dog food, does not mean your dog is not allergic to something in it. But the sure fire way to find out would be to get a blood test done for allergies that tells you exactly what she is allergic to. If it is environmental, there are antihistamines that are safe for dogs, as well as a Gentocin topical spray for her hot spots.

My poor Brittany Puppy (1 1/2 years) is itching herself to death. I've tried the RX's from the vet, the Gentocin and non-soap shampoos. I've also tried human benedryl but to no avail. Should I get her a cortisone shot? It breaks my heart to watch her. We have no fleas or ticks. Get yards sprayed for just such insects. I am desparate for my puppy.

What are you using on your lawn? That in itself could cause problems.

As others have suggested, I would take her in for allergy testing. I would rather figure out what the source is than treat the symptoms.

Food allergies are the No. 1

Food allergies are the No. 1 cause of poor skin and hair conditions in dogs. High quality foods can cause them just as much as low quality - it could be something as simple as your dog being allergic to chicken or beef, or even wheat. Innova Evo is extremely high in protein, try switching to a lower protein food and try a grain free foods or switch from whatever meat source is in the dog's current food to something different - but be aware that switching foods takes a while and you have to give it a few weeks on the new food before you know for sure, so you need to be patient. The one dog with the pimples on his belly could have a staph infection. Both dogs should have a skin scraping done to rule out Demodectic mange - it's a mite that every animal/human with hair has on their body and it's brought on by stress or a suppressed immune system, non-contagious - and do things to boost your dogs' immune systems. Lots of exercise, vitamins, natural additives to their food. Find a holistic vet in your area to help.

My beautiful Weimer, all of

My beautiful Weimer, all of a sudden was scratching and biting at her skin. This caused bald spots and the quality of her hair was poor. After testing her (simple blood test) we got a complete and easy to understand report. Interestingly she was allergic to foods that are in most blended dog foods, including the specialty recipes. Her allergies include potatoes, peas, wheat, oats, venison... Fortunately Science Diet makes a sensitive skin recipe that works for her. We found ourselves in the pet stores, allergy report in hand, reading labels on treat packages. We found only a few that were free of all of the things she is allergic to. Because of her allergies and the fact she is a short hair, her skin tends to be dry. In the winter time we run an air humidifier and faithfully clean the filter. Our dog looks great and is not stressed any more. You cannot assume your dog is not allergic to something til you have the testing done

PIMPLE like things are on my

PIMPLE like things are on my german shepherd dog, all over his body. It started out as one or two but now I see he has more and more over a period of 2 weeks. I have 3 other german shepherd dogs and they do not seem to have them. I tried putting pressure on one (as to pop a pimple) but my guy he just didnt like that idea it seemed to be painfull so I stopped. He doesn't seem to be scratching them all the time either,,,
Have you any idea what these things are? My next step is the Vet but I would like some answers now if possible.
THANKS,
LINDIE
