Meow at the Mirror?
OK, so we have a bathroom with a really long mirror that is next to our kitchen--when you look into the mirror, you can see into the kitchen and part of the living room (depending on the angle). Our cat will sit on the ledge and look into the mirror and meow. Not his usual meow, a funky sing-songy, high-pitched, long meow. He's not staring at himself, he's looking off the side and is looking into the other rooms. Why does he do this? He does it when we are in the view of the mirror, but also when we aren't...People have said its because he sees himself and thinks its his "mate," but he's not even looking at his reflection. Any ideas?

I don't know...but maybe it
I don't know...but maybe it isn't the mirror at all. Have you tried taping some newspaper up to cover the mirror and see if the behavior changes?
Could it be the acoustics?
Could it be the acoustics? We've had cats who loved to be alone with the sound of thier own voices, and bathrooms often have wonderfully echoing walls.
