Dog Parks

I noticed in your listing/map of dog parks, the ones in Fridley and Coon Rapids are not included. There is one at Locke County Park at 450 71st Av NE in Fridley and one at Trackside Park at 10425 Hummingbird Street in Coon Rapids. Please add them to the listing. Thank you!

Thanks for bringing these to

Thanks for bringing these to our attention! I have added them to the list of dog parks that need to be added to the website. We really appreciate you sharing these with us. It helps create a great resource for the Twin Cities.

The Fridley Locke County dog

The Fridley Locke County dog park is listed, but the waypoint is not correct on the map.

I have a small dog who

I have a small dog who really needs to run, she is recovering from an injury and needs to stretch her legs. She only wieghs 10 pounds, and we have not had good luck at dog parks; I won't bring her anymore, she is too much smaller then the other dogs. Does anyone know of a place where small dogs can run free?

Have you tried the Lake of

Have you tried the Lake of the Isles dog park? They have a small dog only area.

The Otter Lake Dog Park has

The Otter Lake Dog Park has a section of its dog park that is completely fenced in for small dogs. There is a path that goes around the perimeter of the fenced area. It has a pretty definite incline along the eastern edge so I would check it out before allowing a dog who is recovering from an injury to run free. The area is left natural with hardwoods, pines and is very grassy. I'd recommend having some type of tick repellant on my pet before going in there also. I've heard there is also a park in Roseville that has a small dog area, but we have not taken our dog there. Perhaps further web searching or other posts can give you info on that one.

Just a heads up. I just

Just a heads up. I just brough my dog about 4 weeks ago to Hiawatha dog park for the first time, and what will be the only time. He picked up Giardia so beware, if your dog has been there and starting to get sick, bring them into the vet and get it checked. We have two dogs they hang out together all the time only difference is that we only brought one to Hiawatha, that one got sick. So just a headsup if your dog drinks water at dog parks.

People and animals can catch

People and animals can catch giardia literally from any puddle, lake, swimming pool, hot tub, jacuzzi, fountain, pond, stream...... You cannot avoid it by keeping your pet home.

Here's more information:

Certainly, if your pet becomes ill, then take them to the vet. Dogs with diarrhea should be kept home until the problem is diagnosed and treated.
