okay a few things that make
okay a few things that make me want to hunt these people:
1. their saliva is not toxic!!!
2. they want to kill an animal for sport because it kills other animals for sport.
3. the reason they want to kill these cats is because theyre killing the animals that they would rather hunt?
4. if they are such a problem then spay and neuter, dont just kill.
5. theyre just a bunch of redneck guys sitting around drinking beer all day.
wow. that really makes me mad.
We do drink beer, we do kill
We do drink beer, we do kill cats, read those links in depth then .... decide if you are smart enough in the subject to debate with facts with our position. I spent 1 hour hunting this year, but I spent 200 hours planting trees, what did you do for our environment?
Everyone is upset because
Everyone is upset because CHAIOKITTY.Com advocates the killing of free roaming cats. WE would not exist if people were responible enough to take care of their pets, not take them out and dump them in the country when they grow tired of caring for them. I f you want to have a cat, take care of it, keep it inside, or on a leash. Most cities have leash laws on pets, that does include cats, not just dogs.
We knew that not everyone
We knew that not everyone would appreciate our stance on the dangers to nature's balance that feral cats produce. What we didn't expect was how many vocal supporters we WOULD have. From all walks of life, socially and professionally, have come those who embrace our ideals and encourage us to continue with the education of the misguided and unimformed.
Those who refuse to accept our site as beneficial have failed to peruse the reams of information contained in the links sections of the site- these governmental and university studies leave no doubt of the damage done by the unchecked population explosion of feral and free ranging cats across our nation- these studies also debunk the myth that Trap Neuter Release,(TNR) is an effective management tool. Our balls out position should show that we are deeply committed to the preservation of nature's balance.
Keep your cat indoors and encourage your friends to do the same. We take no joy in cleaning up the mess thoughtless and irresponsible pet owners have made by introducing cats into our great outdoors.
Now let me specically address mike's charges-
1. Have you ever heard of cat scratch fever? toxiplasmosis? rabies?
2. We take no specific pleasures in shooting cats, we harbour no specific dislikes for cats- I have some myself, we just do not want them impacting on small game populations.
3. A cat is by nature a predator- a most efficient predator- song birds, game birds small mammals and rodents all are killed by the millions by cats across the nation annually- this loss by cats puts more pressure on our natural predators, fox, coyote, bobcat to hunt for survival.
4. Spaying and neutering does not reduce the predation on small game- it only reduces the unchecked population explosion of feral and free ranging cats.
5. You got me there MIke, I'm a redneck
Mike, I hate to engage in a
Mike,
I hate to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent, but what the hey? Clearly you don't understand the research, so, how about some history instead?
Compare, if you will, the position that has been taken about smoking and our position on controlling free roaming cats.....
20ish years ago, smoking in public, workplace, and advertising on TV was an accepted norm and in style. We all knew that smoking was a bad thing ....you know, starting a fire in front of your face and directly inhaling the smoke into your lungs. Someone, somewhere, in an elevator said, "Hey, can you please not smoke in front of me, it's not healthy" Now, smokers are shunned to the far reaches beyond the public view, cigarette taxes increased to stop the nasty habit.....Think about free roaming cats?...
Today, everyone knows they sit on your lap and are a fun, pretty pet to have, and are glamorized on TV, but we all knew that they kill stuff they aren't supposed to kill, and that isn't right. We are saying "Hey, keep your cat inside, it's not good for the environment" It is only time that will make our cause similar to the anti -smoking campaign.
