act aggressive towards children

We have a two and half year old black lab golden ret mix and recently she's started to show aggression towards children including my daughter. She has snapped at several kids and bit my daughters friend (not hard). We aren't understanding why since labs are supposed to be so great with kids and families. She has never been aggressive toward adults. What do I do? We are prepared to give her away but really don't want to as she is part of the family. My kids are so upset about having to get rid of her!

You owe it to your dog, your family and all who come in contact with the dog to get to the bottom of this problem. Giving the dog away won't solve the problem. You would merely be passing the problem/risk along to an unsuspecting person and putting their family, friends and neighbors in danger. You should consult a dog trainer and get to the bottom of the problem as soon as possible. The dog needs immediate behavior correction/rehabilitation.
