The Nature of Dogs

I have a new favorite Dog Book. The Nature of Dogs by a truly gifted local photographer, Mary Ludington. This book is wonderful.

It is beautifully designed. The images capture the many essences and personalities of canine spirit as do the accompanying commentaries and essays. The book is getting lots of favorable press and I really can't improve upon what has already been said about it. Do yourself a favor and get this book. It is in a class by itself and speaks to the very deep bond that each of us has with our dogs.

Ever read the Monks of New

Ever read the Monks of New Skete's "I and Dog"?

No, I haven't read that

No, I haven't read that book. What's it about? Do you recommend it?

Years ago I read their "How to be Your Dog's Best Friend" and "The Art of Raising a Puppy." But in meeting my dogs you would never guess I had referenced any books. :)

I agree 100%- we got a copy

I agree 100%- we got a copy at Kevin Kling's show at the Fitzgerald Theater earlier this month, and I pull it off the shelf to look at it every few days. I've been a fan of Mary Ludington's work since seeing one of her pieces at the State Fair juried show a few years ago. Her prints make great Christmas gifts!

"The Nature of Dogs" looks

"The Nature of Dogs" looks really good. I LOVE dog portraits, and Ludington's pictures on the web site look really good.

I've read (and highly recommend) Monks of New Skete: "The Art of Raising a Puppy". I did not realize they had a new book. I found it here:
